npower was once one of the UK's 'Big Six' energy suppliers, providing gas and electricity to millions of homes. It is now part of E.ON, and it no longer supplies households or small businesses.
If you were an npower customer, including through its npower Select, Wasps Energy or Wigan Warriors Energy brands, your account will now be with E.ON Next. This page explains what happened to npower, who looks after former customers, and how to get in touch.
npower stopped supplying homes and small businesses in 2021. More than two million npower customers were moved to E.ON Next between July 2020 and May 2021. The npower name now only lives on in npower Business Solutions, which supplies larger business customers.

After a failed merger with SSE, npower became part of E.ON in 2019 as part of a major swap of businesses between E.ON and RWE. Later that year, E.ON announced that the npower brand would be wound down for home customers, with the loss of around 4,500 jobs.
Between July 2020 and May 2021, E.ON moved more than two million npower customers onto its new E.ON Next platform. npower then stopped trading as a supplier to homes and small businesses.
Still on the tariff you were moved to? If you were transferred to E.ON Next and never picked a new deal, you may be on its standard variable tariff, which is priced at the Ofgem price cap. That is the maximum a supplier can charge, not necessarily the cheapest deal available to you, and there are no exit fees on a variable tariff.

Two of npower's sister companies from 1990 also ended up with other big suppliers. PowerGen was bought by E.ON in 2002, while Nuclear Electric became part of British Energy, which was later bought by EDF.
The npower name hasn't disappeared completely. npower Business Solutions is E.ON's supplier for larger business customers, and it supplies energy to more than 20,000 businesses across the UK.
