What is E.ON Next's fuel mix?

Any electricity we use is generated from a combination of different fuels such as nuclear, gas, coal and renewable sources (wind, water and the sun). The different amounts of each fuel make up a supplier's energy fuel mix. E.ON Next's electricity is mostly renewable, with all electricity on its fixed tariffs backed by renewable sources.

Who owns E.ON Next?

E.ON Next is owned by E.ON SE, one of Europe's largest energy companies, headquartered in Essen, Germany.

E.ON has a long history in the UK. It entered the market by buying Powergen, which later traded as E.ON. In 2019 and 2020, E.ON and RWE agreed a major swap of businesses. E.ON took over Innogy, which owned npower, while RWE took over E.ON's renewable generation business.

E.ON then launched E.ON Next as its new home energy brand in 2020, and moved its E.ON and npower customers across to it.

Were you with npower? If you were an npower home customer, your account will have moved to E.ON Next. See our npower page for more.

Should I switch to E.ON Next?

E.ON Next is worth considering if you want a large, established supplier with a strong customer service record at Citizens Advice, or if you need a specialist tariff for an EV, heat pump or solar and battery setup. Its fixed tariffs also come with 100% renewable electricity.

On the other hand, Which? customers rated it below average for value for money and customer service, and some fixed tariffs carry higher exit fees than others.
