Utility Warehouse (UW) is a multiservice provider that combines energy, broadband, mobile and home insurance into one monthly bill. It now has more than 1.4 million customers across the UK and is one of the largest independent energy suppliers in the country.
UW's big selling point is bundling. The more services you take, the cheaper each one gets, so the lowest energy prices are only available if you also take broadband, mobile or insurance. Energy-only tariffs are available, but they don't come with the biggest discounts.
Utility Warehouse works best if you're happy to move several household bills to one provider. Customers who bundle three or more services get its cheapest energy prices and a first-year savings pledge. If you only want energy, compare it against the rest of the market first, as its energy-only tariffs don't carry the same discounts.

UW offers a mix of variable and fixed tariffs, plus an EV tariff. Each one comes in different price tiers depending on how many other UW services you take.
| Tariff type | What you get |
|---|---|
| Variable | Prices move with the market and Ofgem's price cap. No exit fees, so you can leave at any time. Bundled customers pay less than the price cap. |
| Fixed | Your unit rates and standing charges are locked in for the length of the deal. Exit fees of £75 per fuel apply if you leave early. |
| EV tariff | Cheaper electricity from midnight to 5am GMT (1am to 6am BST). You'll need a working smart meter, Direct Debit and an electric vehicle registered at your address. |
New to fixed deals? Our guide on fixed price energy explains how they work.
UW's prices are split into tiers based on how many services you take. Energy on its own is the most expensive tier, and prices drop when you add broadband, mobile or home insurance. Its EV tariff, for example, comes in Value (energy only), Gold (two services) and Double Gold (three or more services) versions.
Check the whole bundle, not just the energy price. A cheap energy rate only saves you money if the broadband, mobile or insurance you add is also good value. Compare each service against what you pay now before signing up.
UW scores 4.2 out of 5 on Trustpilot from more than 84,000 reviews, which is rated "Great".

It's good to see that UW responds to negative reviews as well as positive ones.

| Overall rating | 2.63 out of 5 |
| Average call waiting time | 3 minutes 35 seconds |
| Emails answered within two days | 43.9% |

Utility Warehouse is owned by Telecom Plus plc, a London-based company listed on the London Stock Exchange. Stuart Burnett is chief executive and Charles Wigoder, who has led the business since its early days, is chairman.
UW first supplied energy through a partnership with npower. In 2013 it bought around 770,000 customer accounts from npower, which made it one of the UK's largest independent energy suppliers. More recently, it took on around 193,000 broadband customers from TalkTalk.
Unlike most suppliers, UW doesn't rely on traditional advertising. It grows through more than 77,000 self-employed Partners, many of them customers, who earn income by recommending UW to friends, family and neighbours.
In 2021, UW paid £1.5 million into Ofgem's redress fund after an investigation found it hadn't given enough support to customers in payment difficulty.

The electricity UW supplies comes from a mix of sources, including gas, nuclear and renewables. Suppliers buy electricity from generators, and the share of each fuel that makes up that electricity is known as their fuel mix.
UW doesn't generate its own renewable electricity, and Which? gives it a sustainability score of 20%. If a greener supply matters to you, see our guide to green energy.
Here is Utility Warehouse's fuel mix for 1 April 2023 to 31 March 2024, compared with the UK national average:

No. You can take energy on its own, but you'll pay more than customers who bundle. UW's cheapest prices and its Price Pledge are for customers taking three or more services.
UW says bundled customers on its variable tariffs pay less than the Ofgem price cap. Energy-only customers may not see the same saving, so compare deals to check.
There are no exit fees on variable tariffs. Fixed tariffs have an exit fee of £75 per fuel if you leave before the deal ends.
Partners are self-employed people who earn money by signing up new UW customers. There are more than 77,000 of them. You don't need to become a Partner to be a customer.
