Good Energy is a pioneering UK energy supplier that has been providing 100% renewable electricity for more than 25 years. It buys its power directly from over 3,000 independent renewable generators across the country, from small solar farms to wind and hydro schemes.
As well as supplying energy, Good Energy helps households and businesses cut their carbon footprint with solar panels, home batteries, heat pumps and EV chargers, plus an export tariff that pays you for the green electricity you send back to the grid. It is a certified B Corp.
Good Energy is one of the greenest suppliers in the UK, with some of the best customer satisfaction scores too. It is a Which? Eco Provider, ranked 4th with Citizens Advice and scores 4.8 on Trustpilot. Its variable tariff is exempt from the price cap, though, so it is worth comparing prices before you switch.

Good Energy is a Which? Eco Provider for 2026, with one of the highest sustainability scores of any supplier. Which? highlights that it matches 90% of its customers' electricity use with renewable power generated in the same half-hour.
Its customers are happy too. In the Which? survey from September and October 2025, Good Energy had the second-highest customer score of the 17 suppliers, at 81%. Its overall Which? score was lower, at 69%, because it scored less well on the Which? assessment of switching and how easy it is to contact, so it isn't a Which? Recommended Provider.
Citizens Advice gave Good Energy a customer service rating of 3.68 out of 5 for April to June 2026, placing it 4th among suppliers. It had one of the lowest complaint rates of any supplier, at 10.9 per 10,000 customers.
| Citizens Advice measure | Score |
|---|---|

| Contact waiting time | 3.6 out of 5 |

Good Energy was founded by Juliet Davenport, with the aim of supplying renewable electricity sourced from wind, solar, hydro and biogas generators. Nigel Pocklington took over as chief executive in 2021.
For many years Good Energy was listed on the London AIM market, with Ecotricity as its largest shareholder. In 2025 it was bought by Esyasoft, a Dubai-based smart grid technology company, in a deal worth around £99 million, which took the company private.
What changed for customers? Very little. As part of the deal, Esyasoft committed to keeping the Good Energy name, its team and its Chippenham head office, and to supporting the renewal of its B Corp certification. Good Energy continues to run as a standalone business.
Good Energy offers 100% renewable electricity, making it a strong choice for environmentally conscious customers. Its electricity comes entirely from renewable sources such as wind, solar, hydro and biogeneration, so the electricity it supplies has zero carbon emissions.

Good Energy is one of the strongest choices if green credentials matter to you. It supplies 100% renewable electricity bought from independent UK generators, it is a Which? Eco Provider, and its customer satisfaction and complaint figures are among the best in the market.
The trade-off is price. Its variable tariff is exempt from the price cap, so it can cost more than a capped standard variable tariff, and its fixed deals carry £75 per fuel exit fees.
